About AimsBio

AimsBio is a diversified privately-owned biotechnology company that researches and develops novel pharmaceuticals, diagnostic kits, and analytical services. The company is currently operating in three divisions: AimsBio-Pharma, AimsBio-Health, and AimsBio-Analytics. From these divisions, three core technologies exist. First, the company is researching novel natural product antibiotics for the treatment of serious infections in the pharmaceutical market. Secondly, the company is commercializing novel technologies in the rapid and low cost diagnostics of amino acids in blood serum and urine for the health care market. Thirdly, the company offers high-throughput low cost amino acid analysis services to the health care, diagnostic, and agricultural markets. 

Management

Colin Shepherd - President and CEO:  Dr. Colin Shepherd received a BS in Agricultural Biotechnology from the University of Kentucky, a PhD in Genetics from Iowa State University, and an MBA from Iowa State University.  He has published papers on the optimization of transgene expression in plants using novel synthetic promoters.  Dr. Colin Shepherd founded AimsBio in October 2006.

Ryan Shepherd - CSO:  Dr. Ryan Shepherd received a BA in Organismal Biology from Beloit College and a PhD in Plant Physiology, Biochemistry, and Molecular Biology from the University of Kentucky.  He has 4 years of post-doctorial research experience, including 2 years as a NSF Postdoctoral Fellow in Microbial Biology at the University of California-Berkeley.  Dr. Ryan Shepherd has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in top plant journals on topics relating to plant surfaces, and he has also led a research team at PhylloTech, LLC, a startup company based in Lexington, KY.  He now oversees research and development efforts at AimsBio, Inc.
